Highlights
Charlie Bell aced the 1th hole. This is his first ace after playing golf for most of his life. Charlie played college golf (he is featured in our Meet the Member section). In Charlie’s own words after the round, “Finally!” Congratulations. Also, Chuck Ledford (58 Net) and Bill Hales (59 net) lit it up. Wow!
Closest to Pin/Longest Drive
Chuck Ledford on #3; Marshall Stuart on #6; Charlie Bell on #11; Morris lee on #15. Long drive from the white tees – Pete DeSisto; long drive from the gold tees – Tom Solomon.
New Member Welcome
Welcome to Randy Donovan from Pebble Creek.
Next Tournament
River Falls Plantation GC, Duncan, SC – Thursday, October 9th
100 Players Blvd., Duncan, SC 29334
Starting time is 9:00 AM and the cost is $29. The Pro Shop is
433-4192. I should receive all entries by Monday, October 6th. Too many members are not entering by the deadline. This causes problems for me in determining flights and completing the paperwork necessary to set up the tournament. Please adhere to the deadline. Please not the additional dollar for the hole-in-one insurance.
October Trip
We will travel south on I-85 to the Commerce, GA area on October 28th and October 29th to play two outstanding courses. Hammer’s Glenn in Homer, GA (can be viewed at the following web address: http://www.hammersglen.com/layout9.asp?id=498&page=25431)
Hammer’s Glenn is an 18 hole Championship course designed by Mark McCumber.
Eagle Greens at Sandy Creek http://www.golflink.com/golf-courses/course.asp?course=1523456)is another Championship course (I have played it) which has a variety of great holes. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Commerce just minutes Eagle Greens. The two rounds of golf will be $75 and includes cart and prizes. The hotel cost is $42 including tax for double occupancy and includes a buffet breakfast. Dinner will be on your own. Total cost is $117 plus your dinner. If you are playing both days, send a check for $75 made out to FSGA by October 15th. The cost for Tuesday only is $39 and the cost for Wednesday only is $36. The deadline is October 15th for the entry fee and to make hotel reservations. Deadline for entry and hotel reservations will be October 15th. Hotel reservations can be made by calling 706-336-8666. Tell them you are with the FSGA. There is a large outlet mall in Commerce and some members might want to bring their wives. While you are running up your score on the golf course, your spouse can run up your credit card bill. Members who live in Anderson County might consider driving down for both days or playing one day as Commerce is only an hour south of exit 40 (Rt. 153) on I-85 and anyone living in Anderson County can get there in less than an hour. Please support our trips. Invite a guest or bring your own foursome.
