Foothills Senior Golf Association

January 15, 2009 River Falls CC

I am going to officially resign my position as weather forecaster. I try very hard to get the most precise forecast for our tournament day. I visit three weather websites on the internet to get an accurate forecast. When all three agreed that it was going to very cold and windy with the real temperature (temperature plus wind chill) about 28 degrees, I cancelled the tournament. Although it was cold, the wind wasn’t very bad and we probably could have played.

Because the fee for the February tournament at Woodfin Ridge is the same ($28) as the January fee, I will carry over the checks of those who signed up for January unless you call or email and direct me to destroy your check.

Please start recruiting some of your golf buddies to join us as a member or guest. We will have some members not renew as we do every year, but we usually manage to fill our ranks provided we extend some invitations. If you are not renewing, please email or call and let me know.

I have posted some new pictures on the internet site. They are from the Hickory Knob trip (thanks to Larry Korth) and the Southern Oaks tournament (titled ‘08 S. Oaks) thanks to Gary Bradley. Check them out.

Next Tournament

February 12, 2009 Woodfin Ridge CC, 2125 S. Woodfin Ridge Drive, Inman, SC 29349

Trips/Special One-day tournaments

I have scheduled an outing for Thursday, April 30th, at Arrowhead Pointe in Georgia. There will be a limit of 48 golfers so make your reservations early. The cost is $44 and includes green fee, cart and prizes. Guests are welcome and can compete with a certifiable handicap index. I am open for suggestions for a trip in July.

2009 Dues

Please remit your dues for 2009 if you have not done so already. The cost remains $21. If you are sending dues and the entry fee for the February tournament, please send separate checks.
