Foothills Senior Golf Association

January 10, 2008 Saluda Valley Country Club

Eighty-eight members and a guest braved cool, breezy weather with one short downpour. The forecast called for mild weather with a 50 percent chance of a shower and 61 degrees. I think if you added the morning and afternoon temperatures, it was 61. Congratulations to the winners! Thanks to those who helped with the scoring.

There were a lot of “grinders” out there who scored well despite the tough conditions. You can see that a few members went low – Ken Valine, “Spanky” Sellars, Gary Bradley, Tom DiPressi, Buddy Holcombe, Dave Trinder, Bill Turbeville, Dennis Crowe, Ken Hill, and Charles Fleming. Tommie Redden eagled the par 5 #3 hole. The winners in the scratch flight were all determined by the tiebreaker, one going to the 5th hole.

Closest to Pin/Longest Drive

Jim Medlin on #2; Chuck Lovelace on #4; Gary Hucker on #12; Alvin Robinson on #17. Long drive from the gold tees – Tom Solomon; Long drive from the white tees – Pete DeSisto.

Tournament Cancellation and Entry Fee Refund Policy

If at all possible, I cancel events due to inclement weather on the Wednesday evening before the tournament. At this time of year, cancellations are due to expected low temperatures. I notify you of the cancellation via email (make sure I have your current email address). If you don’t have email, you can call me (I have three numbers (H. 235-5244; Home Office 278-8275; Cell 979-3160) either on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning (after 5:30 AM). You can also call the course in the morning. If there is any doubt, please check your email before you leave for the course. If there is no email from me, we are playing. Since I make up the prizes based upon the number of entries, you must cancel by Tuesday evening, unless you have an emergency. I am very lenient and will tear up your check at the last minute if at all possible. If I don’t receive your intention to withdraw, your check will be deposited on the day of the tournament.
