Foothills Senior Golf Association

December 11, 2008 Cobb's Glen Country Club

Unfortunately, we were rained out of our last tournament of the year at Cobb’s Glen. We can’t be disappointed because we certainly need the rain. That closes out the points chase for the money prizes that we award every year. The computer has calculated the total points each golfer earned this year and the numbers are available on the website. Click on Handicaps/Points in the menu on the home page. BelowI have listed the winners in the three flights. Please check the numbers and if you feel I have made a mistake, please contact me ASAP so I can check the numbers.

By the way, we are the only senior group in this area that awards cash prizes to the year long winners. No trophies, no plaques, just money.

For those who are new to the organization, here is the explanation of the points. In every tournament, the low gross and low net earn 10 points and the 2nd place winner earns 9 points and the progression continues with each subsequent winner earning one less point. The points are tabulated throughout the year. At the end of the calendar year, I divide the membership into three flights. This year there were 55 members members in each flight. The handicap range is determined by the first member in the flight to the last member in the flight. As always, there is a narrower range in the middle group because most of our golfers have handicaps in that range.

The amount of money is determined by the number of members who join in the following year (2009) by the February tournament. I pass out checks to the winners at that time.
